Troops kill top terrorists commanders, Turji desperate to escape — CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, has said the relentless military onslaught against terrorists in Zamfara State has thrown notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji into a desperate scramble for escape. Musa also said the elimination of two of his top commanders, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu on Thursday night has sent shivers down the spine of Turji. He stated this on Friday at the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja. “In a follow-up operation, troops advanced into Tufan and Mashima villages, further dislodging armed groups and pushing them deeper into the forest. “In a symbolic strike against banditry, the security forces also returned to the once-cleared area of Bello Turji. “The remaining portions of his camp, previously targeted in past offensives, were obliterated in a final suit to erase his presence from the region. “Reports indicate that both Turji and Sani Black are now in this area desperately seeking escape...

Bode George endorses PDP BoT’s backing of Ude-Okoye as secretary

Prominent PDP Board of Trustees member, Chief Bode George, has thrown his weight behind the BoT’s decision to recognise Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, ChannelsTV reports.

The position has been a source of contention between Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu, with both laying claim to the role.

However, following a BoT meeting on Wednesday, the trustees urged the National Working Committee to immediately swear in Ude-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, George reaffirmed the BoT’s stance, citing a Court of Appeal judgment that affirmed Ude-Okoye as the rightful occupant of the position.

“So far, based on the facts presented, I am completely on board. What do you expect the elders to do?

“There was no counter Court of Appeal ruling apart from the one recognizing Okoye,” George stated.

He maintained that if Anyanwu chooses to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court and secures a reversal, the party will abide by it.

However, he urged Anyanwu to let go of the tussle for the sake of party unity, emphasising that the PDP must focus on its role as the leading opposition force.

Despite the internal wrangling, George “dismissed fears of the PDP’s collapse, asserting that the party remains structurally sound compared to the ruling All Progressives Congress.”

“If the taproot of an Iroko tree remains firmly grounded, the wind may shake its branches, but it won’t fall. We will resolve this,” he assured.

Reaffirming that PDP is not a private venture for any individual, George called on members with rigid personal ambitions to either put the party’s interests first or step aside.
